I just had my retrieval on Sun the 11th and today is Tues the 13th.

I agree with the first girl- you start to feel sleepy and then "Poof" you're awake in the recovery room. I am OK with pain but I get sick to my stomach very easily so I had to deal with that for a couple of hours. The nurse gave me a patch to wear that is supposed to help with the nausea but it took a while to kick in. I slept a lot and rested the remainder of the day. I only had to take 1 pain pill before bed. Yesterday I was out of it all day long which I blame on the pain meds (I have stopped taking them) and today I was able to go out and run some errands although I don't feel as if I am ready to exercise again and I too have always been in shape. I'm going to give it a full week before I hit the gym again just to be safe. My abdomen is still swollen and tender although I feel nothing in southern region.

Although towards the end its time consuming and kind of tough, ie no sex, caffeine, working out, I fully plan on donating again.

BTW- 52 is a ton of eggs, they only got 27 from me.

YAY!!!

I may be gay, does not mean i have no rights to become a parent and provide security and a loving home to a child.

All i need now is to find a surrogate will to help me in my dream.

you dont want to be emotionally attatched, it just makes it harder at knowing that you have a biological child out there, you have to be strong and think of it as a gift and a return! seriously.

Marna is a godsend! I love her and PVED forums. Because of her there is a place where I can get my questions answered and even read responses to questions I'm afraid to ask.
Marna has created a world where egg donation is not a secret, but more of a hopeful dream. Marna is amazing as are all the people that post on PVED.
From the bottom of my heart I thank Marna and don't know where I'd be today without the ability to talk to her and those who are walking or have walked in my shoes.

Hi. My name is Lauren, I am 21 years old and I am currently undergoing the
egg donation process. I am a donor, and I have been giving myself injections, something I would have never seen myself doing, buts its quite easy once you get the hang of it.
As you said in your blog, you handle
pain quite well, me on the other hand do not. I haven't really had
any side effects other than some hot flashes and headaches from the hormones, but im just scared about the pain after the surgery. You said they give you pain meds after the surgery, but do they give you a script to take home? Cause I've come to notice that ibuprofen doesn't always do the trick for post-op procedures. What else should I be expecting? I am just honored to give someone the joy of being able to take my eggs and have a baby, and be able to be pregnant. Its a great gift that I am giving to someone. I would do this again and again for others, I am also worried about how is this going to affect my fertility? How many times have you done this procedure?

Peter, are you referring to your state when you say India has much clearer legal guidelines? Recently, a baby born via surrogacy in India was stuck in legal limbo and could not leave the country because the parents had divorced before his birth. If that had happened in California, the father would have been able to take that child home with him. I do agree that for the most part the laws in India do seem very favorable, but California is very clear on its laws and gestational surrogacy.

It's true - we could never afford surrogacy in the U.S. But India, at half the price, and with much clearer legal guidelines, is the alternative we're pursuing. We just got back from a Christmas trip to Mumbai and have our fingers crossed hoping to be able to have our own children.
