I am for marriage and equality for all and I think Melissa Etheridge could not have said it better when she quoted Thomas Jefferson in a paper he wrote: The rights of minorities should never be voted on.” Could you imagine? If that were the case, the children that I had the blessing to help create for my gay and lesbian clients would not exist because there are many, many people who do not believe that they should be raising a family. Same for the gays and lesbians who adopted their children. They would either be in foster care or with different families.

But, back to the program. For those of you who have watched The View, Elizabeth was contradicting herself and not making much sense, one minute saying no, the rights of minorities shouldn’t be voted on while in the same breadth, saying the people should always vote, whether it is for the office of the President. I for one disagree. Proposition 8 narrowly succeeded and it is once again back in the courts, so we shall see where that ends up. This amendment was not about revising our public documents to include the Spanish language, but about taking away the rights of a minority group, which as one of our Founding Fathers said, she never be brought to the people to decide.
