Breaking the Stereotypes of Surrogacy

In the April 7th issue of Newsweek, the article titled, “Womb for Rent,” spurred a recent media buzz from the likes of publications such as National Public Radio and San Diego’s Union Tribune in response to the growing popularity of surrogacy. The article delved into the ongoing controversies that surround surrogate mothers and presented a recent discovery that surrogacy has become a popular medium among military wives to help couples in need.

It’s an informative article that shows why Military wives are the current and growing demographic. Not only do they have the desire to assist in creating families for couples that could not have done so otherwise, the military provides them with insurance coverage that does not prohibit pregnancy through surrogacy. With their husbands away for long periods of time, it can give them a sense of purpose and independence all while making extra money from home. It worked well to break the stereotypes that surrogates are thought to be trashy and only proceed with it for their own selfish financial gain. Both of which, are untrue as our own agency has many surrogates, military affiliated or not, that feel rewarded by helping couples feel the love from a family of their own.

The total fee (include agent fee, screen, Psychological exam, attorney, etc…) is too much. Other companies have everything included. Your company founder had paid significant amount of money for her many times of IVF and are trying to make money on new patients/victims like her. What a shame.

    Jerry,

This the founder and I’m sorry you feel that I am trying to make money off “patients/victims” like me. Our surrogacy fee starts at $9750, which is extremely reasonable for California. In fact, most agencies in California charge $18,000 to $20,000, excluding screening, psychological exam, legal fees, etc.). We do have a retainer fee of $18,000, which is our premier plan, but that is an option and not the only fee we have.
